It is a wonderful site and Kayak Nature provides a great service, unfortunately the leadership in the City of Gulfport are spiraling out of control. They talk about clean air and water but act as though the world is theirs to trash. Under the banner of economic development they past a plan to allow a burning operation 14-24 hours per day without the requiring the least amount of emission control. There is no wonder why these eagles live in St. Petersburg and not next door in Gulfport, if Fred Metcalf, Jeri Reed, Marge Milford, Michael Yates, Michele King, David Hastings, Bob Worthington, Judy Ryerson and Mary Stull had their way the Eagles would be Slow Cooked in Smokin Joe’s or Smokin J’s toxic waste generators that they call smokers.

I took the kayaks out to one of the islands off Gulfport beach with my family and we had a picnic and knuckled around that little island for a couple hours it was spectacular and such qualitiy time with the kids. We paddled back as the sun set and was even visited by pair of dolphin we had the most equisite experience. Everyone needs to try that paddle out!!!

Great photos Lisa!!

It's good to see that the environment on 58th street will sustain these birds. Hopefully with the help of a new representative in ward 4 we can stop the toxic air pollution emanating from the smokehouse on 49th street so our neighborhood and canopy can resume being a nesting place for our feathered friends. Here's our back yard http://www.gulfportinflorida.com and what used to be a place for a variety of species. As long time members of the Audubon Society and the local ambassadors for the Great Backyard Bird Count http://www.audubon.org I can't tell you how anxious we are to see the threat removed.

I hope you don't mind that I borrowed a photo that was used in the Gabber to use on my site under the Air Pollution link, to demonstrate the contradictions that plague our city.

What a great President's Day Tribute! For those interested on seeing the birds from the Pinellas trail, go to marker #37.

Hi Kurt,
I'd be happy and very proud if you put any of my pics on your great site! Here's a few from yesterday. I think it's a different baby from the ones I took on 2/14- the beak is not as yellow. I still have only seen one at a time clearly, but think there are two.
Yesterday Dad can in and dropped a nice fat rat in the nest. He and mom sat in branches above and just watched into the bowl, so I guess the chicks are tearing stuff up already.

Have a great day, and thanks again for all you do!.
Oh- I don't have that original post you sent about the eagles, but I wouldn't have seen them without it! I've been watching them several time a week since- that was in November. I even have some shots of them mating on that big snag.
See ya!
